Hello!

Welcome to this blog on web building and video making by layman.

I believe technology has re-engineered our times so much that we have come face to face with changes that we can no longer ignore or brush aside. Good or bad is no longer a luxurious choice. Like it or not, it’s here. If we continue to ignore or being ignorant, we will be caught in the chase to be with time.
In the past, we can still simply ignore the pewsence of internet and live a decent lfe. Today, in some countries, we may still be able to do that. But that wave of internet (more of its impact and influence) is penetrating deep and powerfully into every facets of our lives, our home, our children, our job, our leisure and very soon, just about everything else. Our children may not have the luxury we have now.
Sure, our kids still go to school as usual, day in day out. The big question is will they be able to find jobs after they finish school, college or university? Will they be caught in the situation of having a totally different profession from what they learn in school? Even if they manage to find a job, will their income afford them a decent lifestyle? Jobs will become a scarcity. Our kids will find that their world is flooded with SOHO and home-based operators. There will be countless internet entrepreneurs making a tiny share (probably very thin by then) of niche markets.
The hype of Online Business is still lingering around. Today, most people know that internet is no longer a gold mine. The pareto ratio still prevails. Gold mine or not is no longer the issue. The issue is are you going in now or later when you need to. Today, we may be thinking “I don’t think I want to”. Some days down the road you may hear your children say, “Dad, we have to. We need to. We must. It’s no longer a choice of want or don’t want. Maybe it was in your times, But gone are those times. How come you never foresee this day will come?”
Well, maybe I am being a bit paranoic. But, I believe the future will be pushing towards something of that nature. It’s better to be ready than to be left behind. That’s where I think one day everyone (well, maybe most) will want to have the skill to create website and make videos to have an income earning presence on the internet. Is that comprehensible? Or, is it too far-fetched or way off sanity?
Websites and videos are not an end in themselves. They are merely tools, media and channel to accomplish something else, be it sales or propaganda. Think about that. But don’t think too deep though. Read this blog and think about the issues of the future when you are not so puzzled!

by jonas on Jan.08, 2010, under Web Building

Designing a webpage is not as difficult and complicated as you may perceive. All you need is some tools and the know how. In this lesson I will be using Adobe Dreamweaver 8 to show you how a simple webpage can be constructed using table. You can download a FREE trial copy of Adobe Dreamweaver from Adobe website (click here)
(1) Open up a blank html page in Adobe Dreamweaver
(2) Go to Menu on top, click on ‘Insert’, scroll down to ‘Table’ and click it
(3) A Table Dialog box appears. Set Rows=3, Columns=1, Table width=1000 pixels, Click OK
(4) Table shows up on page
(5) Align Table to center: Go to Properties (bottom of the program), go to ‘Align’ and select ‘Center’ from the drop-down list.
(6) Table is centered
(7) Setting Header: Click inside row 1. Go to ‘Properties’, enter 120 for ‘H’, then ‘Enter’
(8) Set background color of header: (make sure cursor is still inside row 1) Go to ‘Properties’, click on little square next to ‘bg’, color box appears, pick your color.
This is how your header color looks like:
(9) Enter ‘Header’ Text: Click on row 1, type your text or website name.
(10) Format Header Text: Select all header text and go to ‘Properties’
At the ‘Properties’, click on ‘Align Center’ icon to center text. Choose your font type (such as ‘Geneva’) from ‘Font’ list. Choose font size from ‘Size’ or simply type 48 in the box beside ‘Size’. Set text color by clicking on the square below ‘CSS’ button.
That’s how your header looks like
(11) Footer: Click on row 3 and repeat steps (7) to (10), but enter 20 for ‘H’ (row height). For footer text, you can type in ‘(c) 2010 All Rights Reserved. Your Company or Name’. Set the font size to ’small’
(12) Body Text and Graphics: You can start typing your text in row 2.
(13) Inserting graphics: Go to menu, click on ‘Insert’, then click on ‘Image’, find the image in your computer which you want to insert, select it, then click ‘OK’
(14) Repeat steps (12) and (13) until the page is done.
That’s it. Hope you learned something. If you want to learn to construct a complete one-page website, take a look at my One-Page Website Video Lesson
